Not in any particular order here...feel free
to let us know if you have a personal anecdote to add to our list
of "things we hate" when showing a house.

|
- Access is not provided. The door is blocked
by snow, the front gate is locked, or the path is not lit at night.
- Clutter, clutter everywhere. The garden hose is snaked on the front
walkway. Shoes are piled in the foyer. The kitchen is "well used."
- Letting your house guests sleep in until the last moment. We hate to wake
'em up to show the room.
- Gloomy rooms. Put the lights on; open up the drapes or replace the drapes
with sheers.
- We love Rover, but not greeting us at the front door, ready to play!
- We love Kitty, but not the smell of the litter. Make sure this odor, and
all other unpleasant odors, are eradicated.
- Your children are wonderful too, but take them to the park or a museum
during show time.
- Great house on the inside, but no curb appeal. It's hard to get the
buyer through the front door! Think "exterior staging" in addition
to interior staging.
- Water stains on the ceiling. By this time, you've fixed the source
of the leak (we hope!). Make sure the after-damage is fixed too
with new plastering, priming and paint.
- Dusty fake house plants.
- "Experimental" colors: That peachy-tangerine matched your decor, but
it's not likely to match the buyer's. Neutralize it with a fresh
coat of paint.
Here's what to do: Seller's Checklist.
We will let you know when a prospective
buyer is coming to see your house. We can also provide lots of expertise
in getting your home ready for "show time."
